Compared to other ski areas, the Kreischberg ski area has an above-average proportion of snowboarders, which is due to the very wide and relatively flat slopes, which are particularly attractive for snowboarders. Accordingly, the ski area was able to distinguish itself as a venue for national and international snowboard competitions.

In addition to the FIS - Snowboard -WM in 2003, the FIS Telemark World Cup in 2009 and other international competitions, was from 15 to 25 January 2015, the FIS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships held at Kreischberg and Lachtal Ski Area.

Karl Fussi and Reinhard Kargl have been the managing directors since August 2014.

The Kreischberg has held an 88.5% stake in the Lachtal since August 2012. Since the participation, there has been close cooperation between the ski areas, including a joint ticket offer.

The ski area is named after the flattening on the north ridge of the Rosenkranzhöhe ( 2118  m ) and is located in the north-eastern part of the Gurktal Alps in the ridge of the Prankerhöhe ( 2166  m ) at 1981  m above sea level. A. The mountain is mainly accessible from the north ( Sankt Georgen ob Murau , Stadl an der Mur ) through numerous forest roads and hiking trails.
