Stadl an der Mur was a municipality with 957 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Murau district in Styria . As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , it was merged with the municipality of Predlitz-Turrach on January 1, 2015 . The resulting new community bears the name Stadl-Predlitz . The basis for this was the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

Stadl is located in the upper Murtal about 16 kilometers west of Murau .

history
The place already existed in Roman times under the name Graviacae . In the Middle Ages, salt mining and steel production were characteristic of the place. The political community Stadl was established in 1849/50.
Today Stadl is a summer and winter tourist destination.
population
Population development
The population of Stadl an der Mur has remained largely the same since 1869. It reached its lowest level in the 1900 census with 965 people, the highest in 1951 when 1,320 were counted.
Religions
The majority of the inhabitants (93.7%) belong to the Roman Catholic Church ; 2.9% are Protestant . Other religious communities have less than 1% followers. 2.4% are without religious belief.
Stadl is the seat of a Roman Catholic parish .

The Murauer Straße B 97 leads through Stadl from Predlitz to Murau . To the south, a state road connects Stadl with the Carinthian municipality of Glödnitz over the Flattnitzpass .
The community is connected to the railway network through the Stadl station of the Murtalbahn .
Established businesses
Stadl an der Mur is a two-season tourist destination with around 17,000 overnight stays. In addition to the construction industry, there is an ammunition store and a training center for the armed forces . In 2004, two companies were badly damaged in major fires, and a company in which prefabricated houses are produced was rebuilt.
In terms of infrastructure, Stadl is one of the few well-equipped places in the district (doctor, kindergarten, elementary school, new middle school, retirement home built in 2005, leisure facility with swimming pond, car and agricultural machinery workshop, bakery, butcher shop, grocery store, campsite, four inns)
