Krakauschatten in the Schladminger Tauern in Styria is a locality and cadastral municipality of the Krakow municipality in the Murau district .
geography
Krakauschatten is located in the Krakau Valley in the Murau district in the Austrian state of Styria .
The Krakautal is a high plateau, which extends between the Schladminger Tauern and the Murberg mountains to the three localities Krakaudorf , Krakauhintermühlen and Krakauschatten (with Oberetrach and Unteretrach) with a total of around 1400 inhabitants. Krakauschatten has around 300 inhabitants.
history
Slavic settlers cleared the area from the 6th century. From the 9th century, Bavarian settlers also came to the Krakau Valley. In the Middle Ages there were various landlords. From the 17th century the area was mainly owned by the Schwarzenberg princes .
The abolition of the manorial lords took place in 1848. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
Former parish
The former municipality in the judicial district of Murau , which was independent until the end of 2014 , has been merged with the municipalities of Krakauhintermühlen and Krakaudorf to form the new municipality of Krakow since 2015 as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform .
The last mayor was Gerhard Stolz (ÖVP) until the end of 2014. The municipal council , which was dissolved at the end of 2014, was composed as follows after the 2010 elections:

Blazon : "In the shield, divided by green and silver , above a black crow , two bars abutting arithmetic banks , the upper silver one with upturned silver teeth, the lower red one with fallen red teeth."
The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from June 1, 1982. Due to the amalgamation of the municipalities, this lost its official validity on January 1, 2015. |
