Until the end of 2014, Schönberg-Lachtal was a municipality with 428 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the judicial district or district of Murau in Styria . Since January 1, 2015 it has been merged with the municipalities of Oberwölz Umgebung , Oberwölz Stadt and Winklern bei Oberwölz as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform , the new municipality is called " Oberwölz ".
geography
Geographical location
Schönberg is located approx. 16 km northeast of Murau in the Wölzer Tauern . The town of Schönberg is located at 1038 m , the highest point in the municipality is the Hohe Zinken ( 2222 m ), on the border with the municipality of Pusterwald . The lowest point of the community is at approx. 780 m in the Wölzer Valley. In the north of the municipality lies the high valley of the Lachtal with Lachtal as a well-known winter sports resort. The southwestern part of the municipality (from the Gellsee westward) is drained from the Schönbergbach via the Wölzerbach into the Mur , the northeastern part of the municipality is drained by the Lachtalbach, which also flows into the Mur via Gföllbach, Blahbach and Pölsbach .

The community of Schönberg was established in 1927 as a separation from the community of Oberwölz-Umgebung .

- Glischkerhof: The arcade courtyard from the 16th century is located in the Vorderschönberg district.
Sports
The Lachtal ski area is located in the former municipality and has a wide range of offers. Around the village of Lachtal , which is only inhabited in winter, there are several smaller settlements such as the Monarchiapark and other hut settlements.
Economy and Infrastructure
According to the 2001 census of workplaces, there are 22 workplaces with 53 employees in the municipality as well as 137 out-commuters and 18 in-commuters. There are 61 agricultural and forestry holdings (43 of which are the main occupation), which together manage 3,091 hectares (as of 1999).

The municipal council consisted of 9 members and, since the municipal council election in 2010, consisted entirely of ÖVP mandataries .
