St. Ruprecht-Falkendorf is a former municipality with 467 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the judicial district or district of Murau in Styria . It was created in 2005 by merging the communities of Sankt Ruprecht ob Murau and Falkendorf .

On January 1, 2015, it was merged with the municipality of Sankt Georgen ob Murau as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform . The resulting new community bears the name Sankt Georgen am Kreischberg .

St. Ruprecht-Falkendorf is located in the Murau district in the Austrian state of Styria .

The former municipal area comprised the following two localities (population in brackets as of October 31, 2011) and cadastral communities:

  • Falkendorf (181)
  • St. Ruprecht ob Murau (292, KG St. Ruprecht )

history

The abolition of the manorial lords took place in 1848. The local communities St. Ruprecht ob Murau and Falkendorf as autonomous bodies came into being in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the communities came to Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 they were part of the British occupation zone in Austria.

On January 1, 2005, St. Ruprecht and Falkendorf were merged, the name of the community was St. Ruprecht-Falkendorf.

The last mayor was Michaela Seifter (ÖVP) until the independent community was dissolved.

The municipal council , which was dissolved on December 31, 2014, was composed as follows after the municipal council elections in 2010: 6 ÖVP and 3 SPÖ .

Since 2006 the former municipality has had the following coat of arms:

"Between green flanks, each covered with three silver grain yolks, each with three stalks in silver, a red long pass consisting of a ribbon and pearls, consisting of an oblong diamond with attached circular arcs, inside a red bishop's staff, surrounded by red foliage."
