Krakauhintermühlen in the Schladminger Tauern in Styria is a locality and cadastral municipality of the Krakow municipality in the Murau district .
geography
Krakauhintermühlen is located in the north-western, upper part of the Krakau Valley, a high plateau that extends between the Schladminger Tauern and the Murberg Mountains to the three villages of Krakaudorf , Krakauhintermühlen (with Krakau plain) and Krakauschatten with a total of around 1400 inhabitants. Krakauhintermühlen has a population of around 500.
history
Slavic settlers cleared the area from the 6th century. From the 9th century, Bavarian settlers also came to the Krakau Valley. In the Middle Ages there were various landlords. From the 17th century the area was mainly owned by the Schwarzenberg princes . In 1791 the Vicariate of Ortisei was established in Krakau plain and in 1829 it was elevated to a parish.
The abolition of the manorial lords took place in 1848. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
Former parish
Krakauhintermühlen was an independent municipality in the judicial district until December 31, 2014 . Since 2015 it has been merged with the municipalities of Krakaudorf and Krakauschatten as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform . The resulting new municipality is called Krakow .
The last mayor was Konrad Esterl (ÖVP) until the end of 2014. The municipal council, which was dissolved at the end of 2014, was composed as follows after the 2010 elections:

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from March 1, 1982. Due to the amalgamation of the municipalities, these lost their official validity on January 1, 2015. |
