The area arts is located in the rearmost Katschtal , valley 3½ kilometers west of Schöder until shortly before Krakaudorf , already in the Valley of Ranten is located. The scattered settlement is on the 930- 1100  m height along the central Schöderbachs and its tributary, the arts stream . These two streams follow the train of the Murparallel valley , which accompanies the Mur valley to the north. To the north rise the massif of the Schöderkogel  ( 2500  m above sea level ) with the template Schöderberg , and that of the Rupprechtseck  ( 2591  m above sea level ) with the Dorfer Berg , two side ridges of the Niedere Tauern . To the south is the Staberkogel (Freiberg , 1468  m above sea level ), which is already a foothill of the Stolzalpe of the Murberge .

There are only about a dozen addresses in the area, most of them in Krakow. The border between the two districts is at the upper Schöderbach ( Schödergraben ), which comes from the north into the valley. Some houses are already on the Künstenbach side channel Schlögelbach from the Staberkogel.

The Arts Route Krakow - Schöder runs through the arts . It leads south from Kalvarienberg over the saddle on Krakaudorfer Maibühel.

History and sights

The location is documented as early as 1320 as in the Chiensen . A homestead can be found in 1427 (in the Chienssen) and 1526 (in the Liechtensteiner Robotbuch ). Hutter derives the place name from Slavic konec / koncen 'at the end' and adds “both villages” - so the Krakaudorfer arts and the Schöder arts would have been regarded as separate localities from time immemorial. An older spelling is also Günsten (as has been preserved in the official form 'Favorner' waterfall).

The Favorner waterfall at the entrance of the Schödergraben is the highest waterfall in Styria with a height of 65 m. The tourist access route was built in 1906 and was completely renovated in 1930/31, 1954/55 and 1994.
