Location and landscape

The Rotte Stolzalpe is located directly northeast above Murau , about 200 meters above the town at around 1200  m above sea level. A. Höhe, on the southwest flank of the Stolzalpen massif . It comprises almost 40 buildings, including the facilities of the Stolzalpe State Hospital and the sports field settlement .

The cadastral community of Stolzalpe comprises over 120 addresses with 1184  hectares . Of these, around 80 addresses are Stolzalpe for the high elevations, including the Merbach settlement northwest of the village, the scattered Sauwinkel houses above the Mur , and the Planitzen houses above the Rantental . The cadastral area also includes the Rantenbach - valley locations on the left bank over 3½ kilometers inwards, in particular the settlements right by the city, Mühlengasse , Hagersiedlung , Stolzalpensiedlung , Albert-Sacherer-Siedlung and Am Hammer . The cadastral area extends to the Stolzalpen Chapel just below the Stolzalpengipfels ( 1817  m above sea level ), which is therefore not in the municipality of Murau.

The place is considered to be one of the sunniest places in Styria.

history

The Stolzalpe was first mentioned in a document around 1080.

Stolzalpe municipality

The local church as an autonomous body was established in 1850.

In 1920 and 1924, respectively, two “sun homes” were set up at the Stolzalpe tuberculosis sanatorium. After Austria was annexed in 1938 , the community became part of the Reichsgau Steiermark, from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Stolzalpe was an independent municipality until December 31, 2014, with a last population of 449 (as of October 31, 2013). On January 1, 2015, it became part of the municipal structural reform in Styria with the previously independent municipalities of Laßnitz bei Murau and Triebendorf of the municipality of Murau .

The community consisted of only one village and cadastral community. At the time, the communities of Rinegg , St. Peter am Kammersberg , Triebendorf , Laßnitz bei Murau and Murau bordered the community of Stolzalpe (starting clockwise in the north).

Mayor was Wolfgang Hager  (SPÖ) until December 31, 2014 . The municipal council , which was also dissolved on December 31, 2014 , was composed as follows after the 2010 elections: 5  SPÖ , 3  ÖVP , 1  FPÖ

Municipal coat of arms
AUT Stolzalpe COA.jpg
Blazon : "In the shield, divided by blue and silver , above a golden, flaming sun , below two black diagonal bars ."

The coat of arms was awarded on September 25, 1972 (with effect from January 1, 1973, LGB1. 1972, 21st item, no. 134). With the community union it became obsolete.

Justification of the coat of arms: The sun in the coat of arms indicates the sun sanctuary on the Stolzalpe, the lower field refers to the lords of Liechtenstein zu Murau, who were once the lords of this area.

Organizationally, these clinics are now part of the Mare Group founded in 1999 ( Bad Radkersburg , Kurzentrum).

Both houses and the nursing school (at house 1) are under monument protection. Further monument objects are the hospital church, the mess chapel of the holy. 1. a b Statistics Austria gives 65 inhabitants for the village ( as of January 1, 2019 , pdf); the former municipality (only one village, same local code number) last had around 450 inhabitants: It can be assumed that the locality was restricted to the Stolzalpe addresses with the municipal structural reform .
