Unzmarkt-Frauenburg is about 15 km west of the district capital Judenburg .

history

The place Unzmarkt was first mentioned in a document in 1260 and raised to market in 1631. Today's market community was created in 1968 through the merger of the market community of Unzmarkt and the community of Frauenburg.

Population development

After a maximum in the 1970s, the number of inhabitants is decreasing. While the decline in the 1980s was characterized by a strongly negative balance of migration , this has been balanced since 1990. Instead, the birth balance turned negative.

Economy and Infrastructure

In 2010 there were 32 agricultural and forestry holdings, 17 of which were full-time. These cultivated almost two thirds of the total area of 2181 hectares. In the production sector, 13 companies employed 53 people, mainly in the manufacture of goods. The service sector gave jobs to 151 people in 45 companies. Almost half of them were employed in social and public services (as of 2011).

Train: Unzmarkt is a railway junction: it is not only an EC / IC station on the Bruck an der Mur – Villach line and a system stop for the Railjets Vienna Hbf - Villach Hbf, but also the starting point of the narrow-gauge Murtalbahn to Tamsweg .
