The American Jamie Anderson became Olympic champion . The silver medal was won by Laurie Blouin from Canada. The bronze medal went to Enni Rukajärvi from Finland.
Due to strong winds, the qualifying round originally scheduled for February 11, 2018, was canceled. All athletes competed in two final rounds instead of the planned two qualifying rounds and three final rounds. Due to the strong winds, the two final rounds were postponed by more than an hour. The strong wind lasted until the final and caused many falls among the participants. Of the 25 athletes, only five were able to stand on their feet in the first run. Several female snowboarders said that hosting the final was irresponsible. According to the FIS , the conditions were within the norm.
