With their Olympic victory, Kaitlyn Lawes and John Morris wrote Olympic history and immortalized themselves as the first Olympic champions in mixed doubles competition. It was the second Olympic victory for both of them. While John Morris won gold in the men's competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics , Kaitlyn Lawes won gold in the women's competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics . In both the women's and men's competitions, the teams missed out on successfully defending their titles and even remained without a medal.
