Laurent Dubreuil (born July 25, 1992 ) is a Canadian speed skater .

Career

Dubreuil achieved his first international success at the 2011 Junior World Championships in Seinäjoki . There he won silver over 2 × 500 m. He made his World Cup debut in January 2012 in Salt Lake City and finished fourth in the 500 m. At the Junior World Championships in Obihiro in 2012 , he won bronze over 1000 m and gold over 2 × 500 m. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place over 500 m at the World Cup in Seoul . In the further course of the season he came in all World Cup participations in the top ten, including twice in second place over 500 m and two more times in third place over 500 m. At the individual distance world championships in 2015 in Heerenveen , he won the bronze medal over 2 × 500 m. He finished the season in second place in the 500 m World Cup. In the 2015/16 season he reached the 500 m with nine top ten finishes, including third place in Salt Lake City, ninth overall in the 500 m World Cup. At the Sprint World Championship in Seoul in 2016 , he finished 16th. In the following season he ran again in the world cup over 500 m in ninth place. He also took his first World Cup victory in the team sprint in Nagano and took second place in the team sprint in Heerenveen and Stavanger . At the 2017 World Single Distance Championships in Gangwon-do he was ninth over 500 m and eighth over 1000 m and sixth in the sprint all- around event at the 2017 Sprint World Championships in Calgary . In the 2017/18 season he triumphed in Heerenveen over 500 m and in the team sprint and in Calgary in the team sprint. At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he came in 18th place over 500 m. At the beginning of March 2018, he finished 12th at the Sprint World Championship in Changchun .
