Vincent De Haître (born June 16, 1994 in Ottawa ) is a Canadian speed skater and track cyclist .

Athletic career

De Haître made his debut in the Speed ​​Skating World Cup at the beginning of the 2013/14 season in Calgary , where he finished 21st and 17th in the B World Cup over 1500 m. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he achieved 33rd place over 1500 m and 20th place over 1000 m. In the 2014/15 season he finished in the top ten three times in the A World Cup, including third place over 1000 m at the World Cup finals in Erfurt . In January 2015 he finished second in the 1500 m at the Canadian Championships in Calgary. In the following month he finished 12th over 1000 m at the individual distance world championships in Heerenveen and reached ninth place in the overall World Cup over 1000 m at the end of the season. In addition to speed skating, De Haître also competes in cycling races on the track ; he originally started cycling to train his endurance. In 2012 he was part of the Canadian team at the Pan American Junior Track Championships and was nominated for the Junior World Track Championships . In 2014 he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in sprint , keirin , 1000 meter time trial and team sprint . In the team sprint, he finished fourth with Hugo Barrette and Joseph Veloce . In the same year he finished fifth at the Pan-American track championships in the 1000-meter time trial with the Canadian record time of 1: 00.589 minutes.
