William Christian Dutton (born November 28, 1989 in Regina ) is a Canadian speed skater .

Career

Dutton had his first international success in February 2010 at the North American Championships in Salt Lake City . There he won over 500 m, over 1000 m and the silver medal in the sprint all-around competition. In the speed skating World Cup he made his debut at the beginning of the 2010/11 season in Heerenveen and finished there in 19th place over 1000 m and places 18 and 16 over 500 m. At the 2011 North American Championships in Milwaukee , he won bronze over 1000 m and gold over 500 m. The following year he won bronze over 1000 m and silver over 500 m at the North American Championships in Calgary . In the 2013/14 season he was seventh at the Sprint World Championships in Nagano and finished 26th in the 1000 m and 14th place in the 2 × 500 m run at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he finished third and two over 500 m at the World Cup in Calgary. These were also his first top ten placements in the A World Cup. At the following World Cup in Salt Lake City, he also achieved third and second places over 500 m and took his first World Cup victory in the team sprint. In the further course of the season he achieved four top ten results over 500 m and finished eighth in the overall World Cup over 500 m at the end of the season. At the individual distance world championships in 2016 in Kolomna , he came eighth in the 2 × 500 m run.
