Niña Weijers (* 1987 in Nijmegen ) is a Dutch writer and journalist .

biography

Niña Weijers studied literature in Amsterdam and Dublin . She made her debut with essays and short stories in various literary magazines (including Gonzo , De Optimist and nrc.next ). In 2010 she won the Dutch-language writing competition Write Now! From autumn 2013 to spring 2014 Weijers presented together with the philosopher Simone van Saarloos the monthly talk show Weijers & Van Saarloos - the sexist talk show . With her debut novel De Consequenties (German: Die Konsequenzen , Suhrkamp-Verlag 2016), published in May 2014 , Weijers won several literary prizes . This novel has been translated into German, French, English and Czech. She has been writing a column and reviewing books for De Groene Amsterdammer since October 2014, alternating with Christiaan Weijts . She is also an editor at De Gids . At the end of 2014 Weijers was the first female writer (before Maartje Wortel ) to spend two months as writer-in-residence at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht . From May 1, 2015, Weijers was a freelance writer at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam for one year .
