Christiaan Weijts (born May 4, 1976 in Leiden ) is a Dutch writer and journalist .

biography

Weijts attended the municipal high school in Leiden. From 1994 to 1999 he studied Dutch and literature at the University of Leiden . He works as a columnist for the newspaper nrc.next and De Groene Amsterdammer . From 1999 to 2007 he was an editor and columnist for the university newspaper Mare. Today he lives and works in The Hague .

In 2003 a collection of columns appeared under the title Sluitingstijd , which Weijts had written for the university newspaper Mare. His debut novel Art. 285b from 2006 about an article in the Dutch penal code that deals with stalking , received several literary award nominations.

Weijt's second novel Via Cappello 23 , set in Venice, Verona and Leiden, was awarded the Gerard Wachter Prize. For the novel Euforie the author received the BNG Nieuwe Literatuurprijs .
