Libris Literature Prize

The Libris Literature Prize (Dutch: Libris Literatuur Prijs ) is an annually awarded Dutch prize for the best fictional Dutch-language novel of the past calendar year. The award is named after the sponsor, the Dutch book retail chain "Libris".

After selecting 18 titles, the so-called "longlist" (= long list), the six nomination titles ("shortlist" = short list) are announced and finally the winner is announced. The selection of authors and titles is made by a jury of five people, which is put together by the initiator, the "Stiftung Literaturpreis" (Stichting Literatuur Prijs).

The jury chairman will announce the "shortlist" with the six titles that have been shortlisted for the award in mid-March in the New Church (Nieuwe Kerk) in Amsterdam, which will be presented in mid-May in the mirror room of the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam. The author of the winning title receives a certificate and prize money of 50,000 euros, the authors of the other books on the shortlist each receive 2,500 euros in prize money.

Together with the ECI Literature Prize and the Fintro Literature Prize , the Libris Literature Prize is the largest literary prize in the Netherlands and Flanders.
