Dimitri Verhulst
Dimitri Verhulst (born October 2, 1972 in Aalst ) is a Flemish writer .
Life
Verhulst grew up with foster parents and in children's homes. He was brought up "very Catholic". He worked as an animator in Mallorca , for a pizza express, in a plastic factory and as a tourist guide.
In 1999 he published his first novel and his volume of poetry was written for the “C. Buddingh Prize “nominated. The novel “Problemski Hotel” (2003) was published in nine countries. With the novel “Die Beschissenheit der Dinge” (2006), in which Dimitri Verhulst tells his own story, he was nominated for the “AKO Literature Prize”. The 2009 film version The Shitty Things got a lot of attention.
