Robert Vuijsje (born October 12, 1970 in Amsterdam , Kingdom of the Netherlands ) is a Dutch journalist and author.

Life

Vuijsje attended the Barlaeus Gymnasium in Amsterdam and studied sociology and American studies at the University of Amsterdam . For a year he studied at the University of Memphis in Memphis , Tennessee , USA . From 1997 to 2007 he worked for the Dutch weekly magazine Nieuwe Revu . In 2005 he was nominated for a report with Sigi Lens , a player broker for the Dutch Hard Gras Prize for the best sports report . From 2007 he wrote for the Saturday edition of the daily De Pers , for which he interviewed the Surinam politician Desi Bouterse , among others . The following year he published his first novel Alleen maar nett mensen (Lauter tidy people).

controversy

In October 2012 the film Alleen maar nett mensen, directed by the Dutch director Lodewijk Crijns, was released in Dutch cinemas. After the book had already been criticized by feminists and anti-racism groups when it was published because of the statements made in the book as a degradation of the immigrant precariat , death threats were issued against the author in 2012 and an interview with an Amsterdam local radio was canceled.
