University of Memphis
The University of Memphis is a state university in Memphis in the US state of Tennessee . With around 21,000 students, it is the largest college in Memphis . The university is particularly known for its research and teaching in the fields of Egyptology, earthquake research, journalism and public relations, as well as care professions and law.
history
The University of Memphis was founded on September 10, 1912 as the West Tennessee State Normal School . In 1941 it was renamed Memphis State University . In 1959 the first African-American students were admitted to the course. It received its current name in 1994 .
