Mark Sherrod (born August 13, 1990 in Knoxville ) is an American football player who is mostly used as a striker .
Career
Youth and amateur football
Sherrod already played soccer at his high school in Knoxville and scored 63 goals in his senior year. After graduation, he studied at the University of Memphis, where he also played for the college football team. While in college, he also played in the National Premier Soccer League for Chattanooga FC for one year and for the Portland Timbers U-23 in the Premier Development League for two years .
Club career
Sherrod was chosen as the 13th pick in the second round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by Houston Dynamo . On March 8, 2014, he made his competitive debut in the MLS . On May 11, 2014, he scored his first two goals in a game against the New England Revolutions . After his first season, he participated in the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft and was then elected by Orlando City . One day later, Sherrod was transferred to the San José Earthquakes in exchange for a second round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft .
