The fire brigade of the city of Fürth is divided into one professional and twelve volunteer fire brigades .
Professional fire brigade
As a major city , Fürth has one of seven professional fire departments in the Free State of Bavaria . When it was set up in 1954, it is also the first professional fire service in Bavaria to be introduced after the Second World War . Only the professional fire departments Ingolstadt and Würzburg are younger. In 2015, the Fürth professional fire brigade had 80 officers in the fire service, who were spread over three shifts.
The fire station
The building of the professional fire brigade Fürth is located on Helmplatz. The hall gates can be seen from the passing Königsstraße, behind which the vehicles of the first departure are. The building dates back to 1914 and was intended to accommodate horse-drawn wagons , which today means that the machinists only have a few centimeters of space between the vehicle and the hall arch when moving in and out. The building is under monument protection with no .: D-5-63-000-650 . A new building has been planned for years, but local politicians have failed to implement it .
The building also houses the rooms of the Office for Fire and Disaster Protection , the clothing store with tailoring, the radio and electrical workshop, the administration offices and the hose workshop in the basement. The laundry , the car workshop and the locksmith 's shop can be found in a side wing of the complex , which was added later . After the city had closed the calibration office adjacent to the guard yard , the professional fire brigade moved into it as an auxiliary building and converted it according to requirements. The carpenter's workshop, the respiratory protection workshop as well as a small warehouse and parking spaces for four small vehicles are now available there. In the basement there is a breathing apparatus training system and fitness equipment for service and fire-fighting sports . In the winter half of the year, the Art Nouveau tower hall above the vehicle hall of the “Eichamt” is used for the sports units together with the neighboring Heinrich Schliemann Gymnasium .
Volunteer firefighter
The volunteer fire brigade (FF) of the city of Fürth currently consists of twelve independent units, eleven of which are located in the districts surrounding the city. The twelfth weir, the FF Fürth-Stadt, is located in the inner city only a few hundred meters from the guard of the professional fire brigade. There are currently 439 active volunteers in the units, 30 of them women. The area of responsibility of the FF also includes two special features, the local operations management support group (UGöEL) and the ABC train city of Fürth. Both units are made up of people from the city's fire brigades.
