In architecture, the term building complex (also building complex or complex ) denotes a group or block of buildings and architectural spaces that are structurally connected to one another and are perceived as a whole.

As a rule, it is possible to move through the buildings of a complex without leaving the interior . There is a common development with some entrances. However, outdoor spaces and elements such as statues or fountains that lie between the structures can also be viewed as part of a complex.

If there is a loose combination of different types of buildings and an interplay of indoor and outdoor spaces, then one speaks of a building ensemble .
