history

Bill Wallace began judo and wrestling training during his high school years . Due to a ligament injury to his right knee during judo training, he had to stop judo. During his service with the US Air Force in 1967 he began under Michael Gneck with the Shōrin-Ryū karate training. Very soon he was very successful and switched to full contact karate. Due to his old knee injury, he tried to relieve the strain on his left knee and concentrated fully on his right leg as a standing foot. With this specialization, he turned his weakness into a strength. He finally managed to achieve a (measured) speed of 60 mph (96 km / h) with "fast leg kicks" and above all with his roundhouse kick . He became a seven-time PKA Middleweight Champion . When practicing karate, he trained his legs almost 90% of the time. This was the only way he was able to achieve these successes and to defeat much larger and heavier opponents with his kicks and kicks.

Fighting style

Bill Wallace specialized soon on his leg techniques. Through daily training, he was able to kick his roundhouse kick at a measured speed of 60 mph. He faked with two or three quick feinting and then knocked out the opponent with one hard kick . But he was not spared either. After an unfortunate hit, he lost a testicle because his groin guard had slipped. With his height of 178 cm and a fighting weight of almost 75 kilos, he had astonishing strength and speed in his competitions. His fighting style remained undefeated in 23 consecutive fights from 1974 to 1980. In 1980 he defeated the German Bernd Grothe in Los Angeles , USA, in the second round by knocking out. In the same year he then resigned as the undefeated champion . His predecessor as world champion was Chuck Norris , successor was Joe Lewis . Despite his tough fights, he is still very much valued and adored by his fans and former opponents.
