Moe Mitchell (* 1983 in Bremerhaven ) is a German soul singer who is under contract with the Hanover-based independent label Etwas Echtes . He is best known for his collaborations with hip-hop musicians. As an English-speaking rapper , Mitchell is also active under the pseudonym Sizzlac .

Career

Moe Mitchell was born in Bremerhaven in 1983 as the son of a German. His father was an American and worked as a GI for the United States Armed Forces . When Moe Mitchell was four years old, his parents' relationship ended, so that he subsequently grew up with his mother with two sisters. Mitchell began singing as a child. His mother's acquaintance gave him his first appearance as a singer at the age of eleven in a nightclub. This was followed by further appearances in the vicinity of his hometown and finally the first recordings in the Candy Station studios. Together with his cousin and another musician, he also formed the group Empada. He later made appearances within the formations Wermelskirchen-Bremerhaven-Connection and Straßenlage, in which he rapped and sang in English. In 1999, Mitchell contributed the theme song Professional Robbing & Crime to the film 'Ne Opportunity . In 2001 he began an apprenticeship as a sound engineer .

In 2003, Moe Mitchell met rapper Kool Savas through his cousin during a performance in Saarbrücken . However, the contact was not initially intensified. Only two years later did Savas invite the singer to Berlin and shortly afterwards he signed a contract with his music label Optik Records . Moe Mitchell then acted as a singer for songs by the rapper and as a so-called back-up rapper Kool Savas'. In September 2006, Mitchell was named after the release of the label sampler Optik Takeover! as well as the singles contained on it, OR is known to a larger audience. This is OR was also able to reach number 28 in the German single charts.

For a large part of the following albums on the Optik Records label , Moe Mitchell contributed guest contributions. In 2007 he recorded the piece Melodie with Kool Savas and Senna for the album Tot oder Lebig . On April 25, 2008, the song was also released as a single. It rose to number 68 in the German single charts. At the same time, Mitchell was also heard on rapper Olli Banjo's Sparring 3 . In addition to his work as a singer, Moe Mitchell also appeared as a rapper in 2008 under the pseudonym Sizzlac. He was represented with contributions to the albums Caputalismus des Rappers Caput and John Bello Story 2 by Kool Savas. The pieces Brainwash and Proof (Mammut Remix) from John Bello Story 2 were also implemented as videos. Although Mitchell appears as the back-up rapper for Savas at concerts, he raps only in English as Sizzlac. In an interview, the musician said that he had problems with the German pronunciation that prevented a pointed presentation.

From the end of 2009 Moe Mitchell also worked increasingly with hip-hop artists outside the label environment of Kool Savas, for whom he mainly sang hooklines . Mitchell was on the albums Lieber ich bin broke by Vega , Azphalt Inferno 2 by Azad , A Worker's Son by Sinan, Post-Apocalypse Jetzt by Job and Morlockk Dilemma , Liebe, Sex and Twilight Zone by Kaas , Blackbook by Laas Unltd. as well as in the back of the bus from Fler .

On April 27, 2012, Mitchell's debut album MMS was released via Essah Entertainment . This was announced in 2009 as a joint album by Mitchell, Melbeatz and Savas. The album was created in various sessions in Stuttgart, Rothenburg, Hanover and Dinkelsbühl. It came through other releases of the label such as John Bello Story 2 and John Bello Story 3 to interruptions in work. Melbeatz produced the songs on the album. The lyrics were written by Kool Savas and Franky Kubrick . In the course of the work on MMS , the musicians involved decided to treat the album as a solo project by Mitchell. As a result, the meaning of the abbreviation was changed from "Mel, Moe, Savas" to "Moe Mitchell Solo". According to Mitchell, the short form could also stand for “music with a soul”. The songs Meine Stadt , Gangster , Feuer und Flamme and MMS from MMS were implemented as videos.

From the end of March to mid-April 2012 Mitchell was on a concert tour with Kool Savas, Olli Banjo, Laas Unltd., The Orsons and Buddy Ogün under the motto "The League of Extraordinary Mcees". He also completed his own tour from May 9th to 25th, 2012 under the title “We Got Soul”. This included appearances in sixteen cities. Mitchell also recorded a song with Alpa Gun for his album Ehrensache . Mitchell made two contributions to Fler's album Behind Blue Eyes , including the visually translated song You Are Worth It . In 2013 he was also featured on Alpa Gun's album Alles geht zurück . On December 27th, the music video Optik 4 Life was released as the first track of Mitchell's first mixtape. Videos of It burns in my soul and My City 2 / Lehe followed . The mixtape was released on March 4th under the title Für Euch in German via SoundCloud .

Since then he has been under contract as an artist with the Hanover label Etwas Echtes, through which he released his EP Frei for free in the same year . He is with the 15 years younger model Lisa Sökeland and lives in Hanover.
