Azphalt Inferno 2 is the second mixtape by German rapper Azad . It was released on April 9, 2010, and entered the album charts at number 18 in Germany.

On May 21, 2010, the only single was released Fly Away / Always when it rains , which contains remixed versions of the two songs as well as instrumentals and acapellas. A video was shot for the song Fly Away with Kool Savas & Francisco, which was released on April 30, 2010.

The album contains four songs on which Azad does not rap himself, but only guest musicians can be heard: Murder , Scheizz auf Alle , Wenn die Strasse speaks and Waz Lan Waz .

style

The album is Azad's first since his Bozz Music label was dissolved . Azad does not distance himself from his past with Bozz Music , but confesses to it in several places on the album.

Azphalt Inferno 2 contains both hard battle tracks (such as Komm Ran ) as well as socially critical and more melancholic texts (such as Fly Away ) and thus largely continues the style of its predecessors.

reception

The reception of the album is very differentiated.

For example, guest posts, the so-called features , are often perceived as annoying and superfluous - especially Adem's appearance on Waz Lan Waz is a widespread reason for criticism. In contrast, the contributions by rappers Tone , Snaga and Godsilla are rated positively.

"[...] [V] Maybe not every homie should appear on a record right away [...]"

- Alexander Riede : generation-one.de

The beats, on the other hand - the background music of the individual songs - almost consistently described as suitable and atmospheric, and in most cases positively received:

"[T] he beat foundation [device] is flawless as usual."

- Dani Fromm : laut.de, April 2010

The fact that the album is stylistically similar to its predecessors is the aspect that takes up the most space in the reception of the album. The assessment of this fact is different: Some critics see Azphalt Inferno 2 as a “decent” or even “above average album”, while for others the album seems “monotonous” and not innovative enough.

“On 'Azphalt Inferno 2' you get exactly the same as on every other Azad release since ... I don't even know anymore. Five years?"
