The website laut.de gave the album four out of a possible five points:
" " I bite everything off like a T-Rex. " Azad, like almost everyone else who likes to mime tough Max, cultivates his uncompromising I-fuck-them-all attitude. Unlike most of the others, however, he never gives the impression of using his "comprehensive freaking program" as a kind of preventive strike so that nobody catches a glimpse of the actually quite tender soul behind all the loud mouths. "I'll tear my heart out of my chest, show you the wounds," says Azad, taking exactly the opposite approach. [...] The faint fear of having to find the first Azad album somehow mediocre after all these years pulverized "Leben 2" just as much as the doubts that arose here and there about whether Azad really still has it. "When the ace comes back, it doesn't matter who is king here." "
The album was also rated positively on rap.de:
“ Everything on“ Life 2 ”looks thought out down to the last detail. The musical work as a whole flirts with the flavor of the New York era in the mid / late nineties. And it works. Not a syllable too many, not a sound element that would disrupt the atmosphere of a track or not bring it to its full advantage. [...] Melancholy, paired with toughness and the spark of hope that always slumbered in it, honesty, authenticity and the unconditional love for rap - all of this distinguished Azad on his way to "Life 2". And he has managed to pack these factors back into a coherent overall work, which actually has the potential to be a classic. "Life 2" proves that rap from the street doesn't necessarily have to glorify money, bitches, drugs or violence, no, it can also just be real. "
MZEE magazine also rated the album positively. The editor Sven Aumiller viewed Life II as a total work of art, which over the entire length of the album “ captivates the listener and hardly lets go. "
