Snaga (* 1978 , nor pretty Snaga , civic Timm David Zumbrägel ) is a German battle rap - hip hop - musicians from Gladbeck ( Ruhrgebiet ).

Life

Before Zumbrägel started rapping, he was active as a Thai boxer for seven years, which he had to give up because of a heart valve defect . During this time he was nicknamed Snaga , which means "force" in Serbian.

After graduating from high school, he studied film and television economics for eight semesters, graduated with a diploma and founded the film company Timaxx Entertainment with two friends.

In the 90s he co-founded the hip-hop crew Knappschaft . He was still rapping in English when he met Oliver "Big" Pillath in 2003. Snaga and Pillath then worked together more often and were involved in the joint project of the formations Knappschaft and Nordkurve , who published a joint mixtape.

Together with Pillath he was temporarily under contract as the duo Snaga & Pillath with the 3P and Deluxe Records labels .

In April 2009 a joint album with Fard was released under the title "Talion".

In November 2009 the joint second album with Pillath was released under the title "II" on the label "Ruhrpott Illegal".

On May 23, 2014 the second album with Fard followed under the title Talion 2 . It reached number 4 on the German album charts.

On June 12, 2015, his solo debut Snaga fickt Deutschland 2 was released , which was ranked 15th in Germany.

His instrumental album 2013 / For Vito was released on January 29, 2016 .

Timaxx Entertainment GbR

Furthermore, Snaga is the managing director of Timaxx Entertainment GbR , a film company in Dortmund. According to Pillath, he could not appear on the Feuer über Deutschland -DVD because he was busy shooting a film at the time. In the second part of Feuer über Deutschland , Snaga will host / present the DVD.

reception

The song "Contraband" recorded together with Fard was criticized as anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic . The song begins with the exclamation "Pro Mujahideen, pro Palestine". The rappers then “directed their hatred [...] against the 'politics from Tel Aviv '” and used “classic anti-Semitic analogies such as the criticism of bank interest rates or conspiracy-theoretical associations with the ' Bilderbergers '”. The whole thing is also "underlined and illustrated by a paramilitant aesthetic - for 'freedom' with clubs, torches, kufyia and machine guns".
