Josef Snaga

Josef Snaga (born June 3, 1871 in Branitz , Silesia , † March 13, 1946 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German conductor and composer .

Life

Snaga studied music at the University of Regensburg and in 1898 went to Leipzig to the local conservatory . At the same time, he also studied at the university . Between 1899 and 1902 he was at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin and also graduated.

After various engagements as Kapellmeister , Snaga was brought to Düsseldorf in 1905, where he worked until 1916. That year Snaga was engaged at the Apollo Theater in Berlin; later he also worked in the winter garden in Berlin. From 1923 he was a freelance composer. Josef Snaga later recorded numerous marches and pieces of classical opera with his wind orchestra on record. Recordings for Deutsche Grammophon have been recorded since 1927.
