Andrei Mutulescu (born April 5, 1988 in Bucharest , † April 11, 2011 there ) was a Romanian football player .

Career

Mutulescu started playing football in 1996 in his hometown at FC Național Bucharest . From 2002 he attended the Nucet football school and was considered one of the most valuable players that school had ever produced. From 2005 to 2006 he was loaned to third division club FC Snagov , with whom he made promotion to League II at the end of the season . From 2006 to 2007 he played at Forex Brasov , where he made his debut in Liga II at the age of eighteen. In 2006 Mutulescu ran for the Romanian U19 national team . In total, he came to over 40 international matches in the various age groups of the juniors and scored 19 goals.

In early 2007, the defensive midfielder played some friendly matches for FCM Târgovişte , but without convincing the coach Vasile Silaghi of his skills. In the summer of 2007 Mutulescu refused to renew his contract with those responsible for the Nucet football school. He was able to avoid a three-year ban by signing a contract with the Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol on August 6, 2007 , which compensated the football school accordingly. At the end of the month Sheriff loaned him to local rivals FC Tiraspol , for whom he made his debut in the Divizia Națională on August 30, 2007 at the home game against FC Dacia Chișinău .

In order to continue to be considered for the Romanian U19 national team, Mutulescu was on the advice of coach Emil Săndoi in the summer of 2008 to borrow the Romanian second division club FCM Târgovişte . There he made it into the first team squad, but without being used in an official game. After a few games for the second team in Liga IV , he returned to FC Tiraspol in November 2008.

In February 2009 Mutulescu moved to the Romanian second division UTA Arad coached by Roland Nagy and was able to achieve two goals in the second half of the 2008/09 season. After the club did not want to meet his salary requirements, he completed a trial training with the Albanian first division promoted KS Kastrioti Kruja in the summer of 2010 , but decided against signing a contract because of the proximity to Kosovo . From September 1, 2010, he played for Farul Constanța , but the club separated from him at the end of the first half of 2010/11. In September 2010, examinations revealed that Mutulescu had heart problems, but on September 20, 2010, the Bucharest National Institute for Sports Medicine granted him a six-month license to play. In early 2011 he completed some friendly matches for Juventus Colentina Bucharest and collapsed on February 15 in Berceni during the game against Săgeata Năvodari on the field. He was saved by the doctors and spent a few days in a Bucharest hospital. There he was banned from any sporting activity until May 2011.

Mutulescu collapsed again on April 11, 2011 during a soccer game with friends and died that evening in the Spitalul Clinic de Urgențǎ Floreasca in Bucharest.
