The FC Tiraspol ( Russian ФК Тирасполь ) was a Moldovan or Transnistrian football club from Tiraspol . He played in the Divizia Națională , the top Moldovan league. The club played its home games in the Sheriff Stadium in Tiraspol, which it shared with local rivals Sheriff Tiraspol . The club colors were red and green.
history
The club was founded in 1994 in Chișinău under the name Constructorul Chișinău and renamed Constructorul Cioburciu for the 2001/02 season . In 2002 it moved its headquarters to Tiraspol and has since been called FC Tiraspol.
As Constructorul Chișinău, the club became Moldovan champions in 1997. In qualifying for the 1997/98 UEFA Champions League , the team failed in the first round against the Belarusian champions MPKZ Mazyr . The club won the Moldovan Cup twice (1995/96 and 1999/00), two more times it reached the final (1997/98 and 1998/99). The team was eliminated five times in the cup semi-finals. Internationally, the greatest success of FC Tiraspol was reaching the third round of the 2006 UEFA Intertoto Cup , where it failed against the Austrian team SV Ried .
In 2006 the club started building a young team, which was reflected in weaker results in the national championship. FC Tiraspol ended the 2014/15 season in fourth place out of eleven teams. After this season the club was dissolved.
