Doeschka Meijsing
Maria Johanna "Doeschka" Meijsing (born October 21, 1947 in Eindhoven , † January 30, 2012 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch journalist and writer .
Life
Maria Johanna Meijsing was born in Eindhoven and grew up in Haarlem . She studied Dutch and General Literature at the University of Amsterdam . From 1971 to 1976 she taught at the St. Ignatius High School . Until 1978 she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Dutch Studies at the University of Amsterdam. From 1978 she became a journalist for the weekly political magazine Vrij Nederland . From 1987 to 1999 she wrote for the political magazine Elsevier .
Meijsing published her first work in 1974 with the collection of short stories De hanen en other verhalen . A total of five of her works have been translated into German . In Droemer Knaur appeared the cat afterwards , Tiger made of glass and Utopia in Beltz & Gelberg appeared Robinson and the German paperback publisher published in 1999. The road to Caviano . Meijsing was homosexual and lived in relationships with different women. Her relationship with the Dutch journalist Xandra Schutte served as inspiration for her last novel Over deehlede , published in 2008 . For this work she was awarded the AKO Literatuurprijs , the F. Bordewijk-prijs and the Opzij Literatuurprijs , among others .
Despite her homosexuality, Meijsing expressed herself controversially and occasionally also negatively about homosexual relationships, marriage and the offspring.
Meijsing died on January 30, 2012 from complications from a surgical operation.
