Tomas Lieske
Tomas Lieske , pseudonym of Antonius (Ton) Theodorus van Drunen (born June 8, 1943 in The Hague ), is a Dutch poet , theater and prose writer .
biography
From 1966 Lieske studied Dutch language and literature at the University of Leiden . In 1972 he became a lecturer at the Haag- Montessori- Lyceum in The Hague. There he organized theater performances. In 1973 he made his debut with the cycle of poems Gewapende maagd: een cyclus met biografische aantekening . In 1974 he finished his studies with a thesis (doctoraalscriptie) on the novels of Simon Vestdijk . Years later he edited the play De duivels and published an essay on S. Vestdijks Reisgidsen vol Belluno's en blauwbaarden . From 1978 to 1982 Lieske studied dramaturgy in Amsterdam and played with Erik de Vos in The Hague in the De Appel theater company. At the same time he worked as a photographer and visual artist. In 1982 he destroyed his pictures and chose the pseudonym Tomas Lieske for himself. From 1987 to 1995 he was editor of Tirade magazine.
Under his pseudonym Tomas Lieske, under which he still publishes, he made his debut in 1985 with poems in the literary magazines Tirade and De Revisor . The magazine Tirade won Lieske over to write a chronicle of poems, which was then also published in 1989 in the essay collection Een hoofd in de toendra . For his prose debut Oorlogstuinen Lieske in 1992 received the Geertjan-Lubberhuizen price . His first novel Nachtkwartier , published in 1996 , was nominated for the Libris Literature Prize. But it was not until 2001 that Lieske received this award for his novel Franklin , as did the Inktaap . The author received another nomination for Dünya ( AKO Literatuurprijs ). In 2007 he won the VSB Poetry Prize (VSB-poëzieprijs) for the collection of poems Hoe je geliefde te herkennen .
Lieske's works have been translated into Czech, Turkish, French and German, among others.
