Christiane Kuby

Christiane Kuby (born January 19, 1952 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German translator .

Life

Christiane Kuby grew up in Miltenberg , Frankfurt am Main and Luxemburg , where she passed the school leaving examination in 1969. She then worked for the " Castrum Peregrini " foundation in Amsterdam until 1989 . From 1972 to 1982 she studied Romance and German at the University of Amsterdam . She graduated with the state examination and worked from 1980 to 1984 as an assistant in the subject of literary didactics .

From 1987 to 1995 she worked for various Dutch literary magazines . Christiane Kuby has been working as a freelance translator since 1996 . She lives in Amsterdam .

Christiane Kuby translates literary and scientific works from Dutch into German . She is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ. In 2012 she was awarded the Else Otten Prize for her translation of Erwin Mortier's novel "Götterschlaf" .
