Overall, literary didactics pursues the goal of making school and extracurricular literature mediation sustainable, varied and - in the sense of compensatory reading promotion - target-oriented and thus contributing to cultural learning. In an increasingly empirical research in literary didactics, it is also about the modeling and checking of individual competencies, for example a "literary aesthetic judgment competence" or a "poetic competence", which takes into account text reception and text production skills ("literary writing") as well as literature-related Attitudes, both on the student and on the teacher side.
