Wolfgang Victor Ruttkowski

Wolfgang Victor Ruttkowski (born February 5, 1935 in Hirschberg / Silesia ) is a German-American Germanist and cultural scientist and lives in Kyoto ( Japan ).

Life

Wolfgang Victor Ruttkowski passed the state examination in German, history and theater studies at the University of Göttingen in 1961 , then studied theater studies and directing at the University of Vienna and the acting school of the Burgtheater (Krauss), worked from 1961 to 1963 as a trainee student at the Schiller-Gymnasium in Hanover and passed the second state examination at the University of Göttingen, studied and taught from 1963 to 1965 at McGill University (Montreal), where he received his Ph.D. (The Dr. degree was awarded by the Göttingen University in 1963 after the publication of his first book).

He taught as Assistant Professor from 1965 to 1968 at the University of Southern California , from 1968 to 1972 as Associate Professor at New York University , from 1972 to 1974 as DAAD Visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo , from 1974 to 1983 at Temple University in Philadelphia (Chairman, German Dept; Faculty Senator) and finally from 1983 to 2003 at the Sangyō University of Kyoto (emeritus as Distinguished Professor ).
