Cadre Abdolah
Kader Abdolah ( December 12, 1954 in Arak , Iran ) is an Iranian writer who writes mainly in Dutch.

While studying science in Tehran , he joined an underground left-wing movement that fought against the Shah's dictatorship and later against that of the Ayatollah . He wrote for an illegal magazine and published his first stories under the pseudonym Kader Abdolah, which is made up of the names of two murdered friends. In 1985 Abdolah had to flee Iran, spent two years in Turkey and in 1988 was invited by the United Nations to the Netherlands , where he first lived in an asylum seekers' home in Apeldoorn and later in a house assigned to him in Zwolle . Since the age of 12, Abdolah has been reading Western literature and listening to Western radio stations forbidden in order to emulate his great-grandfather Qa'em Maqam Farahani , one of the most famous writers in Iran / Persia. Abdolah writes poetry, short stories and novels and is currently working on a new translation of the Koran. Under the pseudonym Mirza (pers. = "Chronicler") he writes a weekly column for the newspaper De Volkskrant .
