Marente de Moor (* 1972 in The Hague , Netherlands ) is a Dutch Slavicist , journalist and writer .

Life

De Moor studied Slavic Studies and lived in Russia for eight years after the collapse of the Soviet Union . In St. Petersburg she studied at a theater school and wrote articles and regular contributions for De Groene Amsterdammer , which appeared in 1999 in the Netherlands as Petersburger Erzählungen (original: Petersburger vertellingen ). After returning to Amsterdam , she worked for several years as an editor for the weekly newspaper HP / De Tijd .

In 2007 her first novel was published, De overtreder (2010 in German by Suhrkamp under the title Amsterdam and back ). Her novel De Nederlandse maagd , published in 2010, was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature in 2014. Her novel Roundhay, tuinscène was published in 2013 .

Marente de Moor has been a permanent columnist for the magazine Vrij Nederland since 2009 .

She is the daughter of the artist Heppe de Moor and author Margriet de Moor .
