Lize Spit (born 1988 in Viersel ) is a Belgian Flemish language writer .

Life

Lize Spit grew up in the Kempen countryside . She studied scenic writing at the RITCS (Hoger Rijks Instituut voor Toneel en Cultuurspreiding) at the Erasmushogeschool Brussel . In 2013 she won both the jury award and the audience award at the young talent competition Write Now! For her story ordehandhaver . . She publishes literary articles in the magazines Tirade , Het lying konijn and De Gids .

Just in time for the start of the Dutch book publisher Das Mag , she had finished her 480-page debut novel Het smelt . The novel became a bestseller in Belgium and the Netherlands in 2016 with 160,000 copies sold. The Belgian production company Menuet acquired the film rights to the novel in 2016, for which Spit was awarded the Lucy B. en CW van der Hoogtprijs in 2018 .
