Esther Gerritsen (born February 2, 1972 in Gendt ) is a Dutch theater and novelist .

Gerritsen grew up near Nijmegen ( Gelderland province ). She studied literature and theater studies at the Art School in Utrecht . She is a columnist for VPRO Gids, Opzij and de Volkskrant .

In 1997 she made her debut as a writer with the play Is dit een kapstok? . She published her first novel Tussen Een Persoon in 2002.

Esther Gerritsen has received several awards, including a. the Halewijn Prize of the city of Roermond , the BNG Nieuwe Literatuurprijs and the Frans-Kellendonk Prize .

In 2016 she wrote the Boekenweek Present (Book Week Present) for the Dutch-Flemish Book Week. The Broer amendment was distributed in the Netherlands and Flanders with a circulation of 650,000.
