Stefan Hertmans
Stefan Hertmans (born March 31, 1951 in Ghent ) is a Belgian author of the Dutch language.
Life
Hertmans grew up in Ghent and studied philology at the University of Ghent . He worked for a time as a teacher of philosophy and art history at the Hogeschool Gent and holds lectureships at the University of Ghent as well as guest lectures at various international cultural institutes.
Hertmans published several prose works, over a dozen volumes of poetry, various collections of essays on literary, cultural, historical and philosophical topics as well as a number of plays. Hertmans lives near Brussels and not far from Mont Ventoux in Monieux , the focal point of his historical novel Die Fremde , published in 2016 .
