Heinrich G. Schneeweiß
Heinrich G. Schneeweiß (also: Heinz Schneeweiß , born February 21, 1930 in Bregenz as Heinrich Gebhard Schneeweiß ) is an Austrian writer and translator .
Life
Heinrich G. Schneeweiß attended high schools in Bregenz and Feldkirch . After graduating from high school , he trained as an actor and camera assistant . He lived in Munich for a long time . In 1964 he moved to the Netherlands , where he studied German and Dutch until 1968 and then worked as a secondary school teacher. From 1974 he was a librarian at the Goethe Institute in Rotterdam . Heinrich G. Schneeweiß now lives in Dordrecht, the Netherlands .
From 1960 Heinrich G. Schneeweiß translated numerous works from Dutch into German . Since 1963 he has also published his own prose and poetry in German .
Heinich G. Schneeweiß is u. a. since 1964 member of the Dutch Writers' Association, since 1978 of the Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde , the Association of German Writers , and since 1982 of the PEN Center for German-Speaking Authors Abroad . In 1995 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.
