Franz Robiller

Franz Robiller (born November 19, 1940 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German radiologist , nuclear medicine specialist and ornithologist . He is the author of numerous bird books, as well as articles in the bird journals Feathered world and parrots .

Live and act

Since adolescence he has also been interested in ornithology, nature conservation and nature photography. From 1959 to 1965 he studied medicine at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . In 1967 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the distribution of the isotope iodine -131 in rats. In 1969 his first bird book appeared in the GDR , later books appeared in the GDR as well as in West German and Austrian publishers. In 1977 he received his habilitation. Since 1978 he has been head of the nuclear medicine department of the Weimar district hospital . From 1977 to 1985 he was a lecturer in nuclear medicine. In 1987 Robiller was a delegate at the establishment of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) in Budapest. In 1992, under Robiller, the first magnetic resonance tomograph was used in Weimar. Since 1993 he has been a member of the specialist editorial team of the Feathered World . In 2005 he was medical director of the Sophien and Hufeland Clinic in Weimar.

In 1989 he succeeded in the first breeding of the black-necked star , in 1996 the first German breeding of the Salomon Cockatoo . Robiller maintains close contacts with the Vogelpark Walsrode (1991–1993 consultancy contract, since 2002 scientific advisory board of the support group).

Robiller conducted research in the field of endocrinology of the avian thyroid gland .
