The Association for the Breeding and Conservation of Domestic and Foreign Birds eV (VZE) is an association of ornamental poultry and exotic breeders and has approx. 4000 members. The VZE ​​is the former bird breeding association of the GDR ( East Germany ). The counterpart is the Association for Species Protection, Bird Keeping and Aviculture (AZ) and the German Canaries and Bird Breeders Association (DKB) in West Germany . The seat of the association is the place of residence of the 1st chairman, currently Magdeburg .

history

The association was founded on October 26th, 1952 on the initiative of Alfred Fichtner as a special breeding association for ornamental poultry and exotic species (SZG) and after the German reunification in 1990 it became the "Association of ornamental poultry and exotic breeders e. V. “(VZE) renamed. In 1999 it was changed again to “Association of Ziergeflügel- und Exotenzüchter e. V. - Association for the breeding and conservation of native and foreign bird species ”.

tasks

All foreign bird species, including domesticated species as well as European species that are permitted by law to keep birds, are looked after professionally and in terms of breeding. Statutory goals are the conservation of species through the breeding , keeping and care of exotic birds and ornamental poultry , support of nature and environmental protection , cooperation with all national and international associations for the purpose of exchanging experiences, promotion of protection projects and conservation breeding programs, promotion of standard breeding in domesticated species as well as a Proper and professional keeping and care of all kept birds. Exhibitions are held at club, district and state level with championships, once a year at the end of the year the VZE ​​federal exhibition with the VZE ​​federal championships is held. The evaluation is based on a common standard (with AZ and DKB ), the championships and exhibitions are carried out according to exhibition guidelines. The association issues officially recognized foot rings for all bird species for its members.
