Charlotte Jacoba Maria Mutsaers (born November 2, 1942 in Utrecht ) is a Dutch painter and author .

Life

Charlotte Mutsaers is the daughter of the art historian Barend Mutsaers. Her maternal great-grandfather was the minister and hydraulic engineer Cornelis Lely . She studied Dutch in Amsterdam and initially worked as a teacher. Mutsaers trained in painting and printing at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, where she became an art teacher. Her works have been shown in the Galerie Clement Amsterdam, the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem , the Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Arnhem , the Nieuwe Kerk (Amsterdam) and the Beiaard Museum of the Image in Breda . As a freelance artist, she also illustrates for Vrij Nederland magazine .

Mutsaers has published her writings since the early 1980s. The book title of the novel Kutscher Herbst (2008) has a poem by Osama bin Laden that quotes the protagonist and helps the protagonist out of his writing inhibitions. Mutsaers received the Constantijn Huygensprijs in 2000 and the PC Hooft-prijs in 2010 , as well as a number of other Dutch awards. The asteroid (12368) Mutsaers was also named after her in 2001.

In the parliamentary elections in 2006 she ran on the list of the Partij voor de Dieren (Party for the Animals) to the Dutch Parliament .

Mutsaers has been married to Jan Fontijn from the Netherlands since 1973 .
