Maria Csollány
Maria Csollány , née Raschke (born July 5, 1932 in Tilburg , Netherlands ; died April 24, 2018 in Edingen-Neckarhausen ), was a Dutch translator in Germany.
Life
Maria Csollány and her family had to flee from the Netherlands to Hungary in 1943 as a Jew and lived in Győr , Hungary from 1943 to 1956 . From 1953 she worked as a freelancer for a daily newspaper and published poems and stories as well as translations from German into Hungarian. After the Hungarian uprising , she fled the country and lived in Edingen-Neckarhausen, Germany, from 1956. From 1971 she worked as a translator, translating from English, Hungarian, Dutch and Afrikaans into German. She has translated works by J. Bernlef , Stephen Longstreet , Charlotte Mutsaers and poetry by Judith Herzberg , among others .
She was a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works .

- 2001: Prize of the City of Münster for European Poetry
