Derek Gee (born August 3, 1997 in Osgoode , Ontario ) is a Canadian cyclist who competes on track and road .

Athletic career

In 2015 Derek Gee was Canadian Junior Champion in the individual time trial ; at the world championships in the same year he finished 29th in this discipline. He then ended his cycling career initially to devote himself to studying life sciences at Queen's University in Kingston . He was one of the best in his class ( Dean's List ). However, he soon discovered that he missed cycling and tried to combine cycling and studying from the 2016/17 season. He was inducted into the track cycling program at the National Cycling Center in Milton .

In 2017 Gee was a two-time Pan American champion, in the singles and with Aidan Caves , Jay Lamoureux and Bayley Simpson in the team pursuit , in both disciplines he was also national champion. At the Commonwealth Games 2018 he won bronze in the team pursuit with Michael Foley , Jay Lamoureux and Aidan Caves. In the same year he won five titles at the Canadian Track Championships. In 2019 Gee again won gold twice at the Pan American Championships , in the Omnium and with Vincent De Haître , Jay Lamoureux and Foley in the team pursuit.
