Queen's University , colloquially known as Queen’s , is a university in Kingston , Ontario , Canada . It was founded in 1841 during the colonial era.

As one of the oldest Canadian universities, Queen's has a campus in a park-like location along the promenade of Lake Ontario with uniform neo-Gothic limestone architecture.

Smith School of Business alumni include: a. Elon Musk , founder of Tesla Motors, and Gordon Nixon , CEO of the Royal Bank of Canada .

The faculty is accredited by AACSB (North America) and EQUIS (Europe). According to the American magazine Bloomberg Businessweek , the Smith School of Business is one of the 30 best business schools in the world. The MBA program was ranked the best outside the United States and the fourth best in the world in 2010. Queen's Commerce Business Undergraduate Program is widely recognized as the best in Canada.

Since 1995, Queen's has been affiliated with the Bader International Study Center in Herstmonceux Castle in the southern English county of East Sussex . Since 2010 she has been a founding member of the international Matariki university network .

In contrast to continental Europe, most Bachelor degrees are designed for four academic years (Baccalaureatus cum Honore).

In September 2014 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on a double master’s program was signed with the University of Stuttgart . The program relates to chemistry, physics and chemical engineering. It is not yet known when the program will start.

The in-house science publisher, which is common in US-Canadian university operations, is run jointly with McGill University from Montreal and is therefore called "McGill-Queen's University Press" and is present at both locations.
