history
The Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU) originally consisted exclusively of teams from Ontario and Québec. In the course of the expansion of the CIAU, the Ontario-Quebec Athletic Association (O-QAA) was founded in 1955 for better organization. Initially, only men's teams took part there. In 1971 the Québec Universities split off and the O-QAA was renamed the Ontario Universities Athletic Association (OUAA). In the same year the Ontario Women's Interuniversity Athletic Association (OWIAA) was founded. It was not until 1997 that it merged with the OWIAA and the association has been called Ontario University Athletics since.
Sports broadcasts
The OUA broadcasts numerous events via video streams . Some championship games are also televised regionally or nationwide.
