The University of Winnipeg (U of W) is a public university in Winnipeg , the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba . The university, at which around 9,400 students are enrolled, offers bachelor's and master's degrees. The Maclean's and the newspaper The Globe and Mail included the University in the top ten in Canada who specializes in training in the bachelor's program.

The University of Winnipeg was formed through the merger of Manitoba College and Wesley College in 1938. It was officially opened in 1967 when United College joined after receiving university status. United College, in turn, was founded in 1938 by Manitoba College.
